San Francisco de Asis

The iconic church of San Francisco de Asis sits within the plaza of Ranchos de Taos, just south of the town of Taos, NM.  This church is arguably the most painted and photographed church in New Mexico, and its graceful lines and rough surface are an unending source of inspiration to artists of all kinds.  Some of these photographs were taken with a wide-angle lens, which provides some distortion of the image.  Others were shot with a red filter, which turns the blue sky of Taos to black.  Two of the photographs are of the church as reflected in puddles in the parking lot of the church.  All were taken with the intent of capturing a fresh view of this familiar structure.  A selection of these photographs will hang in an invited exhibit at the Blumenschein Museum in Taos from February-May, 2021.
